Sophie's Turtle Sanctuary
It is clear now that nothing makes Sophie come out of her shell like the sight of a turtle. Her fascination with these strange creatures began early in life and so did her diagnosis of acute lymphoblastic leukemia. In fact, Sophie was referred to the Make-A-Wish Foundation at age 2 1/2, our youngest eligible age, but her family decided to wait until she was older for her to wish. At the tender age of seven, she decided that she wanted her own turtle sanctuary--in her bedroom.
