Wm. L. Morris Chevrolet Kicks-Off 75th Anniversary Making Wishes Come True
William L. Morris Chevrolet's 75th anniversary kick-off will help the Make-A-Wish Foundation further its mission in the Tri-Counties. Late in February, the dealership decked out to host an unforgettable dinner and an auction at their showroom in Fillmore. The first red 2004 SSR available within 450 miles topped the list of auction items, which also included a Corvette, several car collectibles and memorabilia.
Challenging the rainy day, friends of William L. Morris and the Make-A-Wish Foundation gathered at the dealership to enjoy a program that included dinner courtesy of Chef Franco's restaurant, wish stories from local kids Aaron, Brittney and Jacob and an opportunity to bid on an SSR to help make wishes come true. The SSR made a spectacular entry to rock and roll music and the effect of dry ice.
Bids for the SSR started at $46,340. Ten percent of the proceeds over that amount were donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Tri-Counties in the customer's name. William L. Morris Chevrolet matched that amount. UAW-GM also contributed $5,000 in matching funds to add a total of $8,176 to grant the wishes of local children.
"The event was incredibly fun. We can't wait to do it again," said Chap Morris, William L. Morris Chevrolet's owner. "As we are embarking on our 75th anniversary, we embrace that same spirit that our founder Wm. L. Morris, Sr. set down over 75 years ago. We are all about giving back to the community and we are especially delighted to be part of making a child's greatest wish come true."
